SIEMENS: the trial

Following years of Swiss and German-led investigations into one of the biggest corporate corruption scandals in history, last week a high-ranking SIEMENS official became the first to find himself in the dock over the company’s ‘black money’. On the trial’s very first day he revealed how every year SIEMENS Hellas would seek and obtain slush fund money for the ‘cultivation’ of the Greek political scene. In Munich, Tasos Telloglou follows each twist and turn of the case. He meets the person who publicly denounced the manager of the slush fund as well as key witnesses in the case: former handlers of the ‘Greek bribes’. Back in Athens, and while the Greek examiner prepares to file charges, Tasos Telloglou details the latest revelations from the German authorities about the biggest and broadest corruption scandal ever to rock the Greek courts.
