The day of the coup

Almost half a century after the coup of April 21, 1967, the New Files present rare accounts of the 24 hours leading up to the day that changed the course of the Greek history through the installment of a 7-year-long military junta. In a series of exclusive interviews Alexis Papahelas sits down with the masterminds of the military junta Stylianos Pattakos and Nikolaos Makarezos as well as deposed King of Greece, Constantine. In addition the New Files bring to light never-before published audio recordings of the Kathimerini newspaper's editorial board discussing the coup in the middle of the night and drafting the content of the last Greek newspaper edition to be published before all Greek press were banned.
